High School GOlf
New York State has approximately 8,000 junior players that compete at the high school level. Schools are divided into sections, numbered 1-11, based on their relative location in New York.
The High School golf season is run in both the Fall and Spring seasons. High School matches are typically 9 holes and usually played on the weekdays after school. Players qualify to compete in their respective sectional championship, with top finishers advancing to the state qualifier competiton. The state qualifiers run two days of 18 hole stroke play, with the top 9 players advancing to the NYSPHAA state championship held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University.
