History

The Muttontown Club is a private member-owned country club, available exclusively to members and their guests. The Alfred Tull-design, 18-hole golf course stretches across 6,500+ yards with two putting greens, a double-sided driving range, and a chipping green with a short range area.

With activities ranging from the President’s Cup and Parent/Child Tournament, many events are centered around the esteemed Muttontown golf course, including the Big “M” (charity tournament) and the Member/Guest. Player development and handicap tournaments are also popular programs with the members, and a great way to improve your game. The Muttontown  Club has one of the largest ladies golf groups for both the competitive and casual player.  During the cooler months, members enjoy practicing in the golf simulator room.  Though the golf at The Muttontown Club is amazing, it’s the people that make The Muttontown Club shine above the rest. The enthusiasm and willingness of our members to create new groups and activities is contagious, and new members frequently comment on how openly they are invited to participate. At first look the course appears to be short with very generous fairways, however, as you play the Alfred Tull-designed course, you will find many slight to severe dog legs and tall trees encroaching on almost every fairway. The sloped fairways and changing elevations give you a challenging lie at best. The straight hitter or conservative player will manage this course very well. The longer hitter or more daring player will enjoy the rewards of navigating the course obstacles. The rough, combined with a few strategically placed fairway bunkers, make your approach shots to these well-bunkered greens more challenging.

Just when you think you have successfully navigated the fairways, the true test reveals itself. Undulating greens, severe slopes and slippery speed will keep even the best golfers playing defensively. In all, this is a fun and enjoyable course to play. Keep your drives in the fairway and your approach shots below the hole for your best chance of success at The Muttontown Club.
