Players at these popular net tournaments compete for net and gross prizes, as well as points for a chance to compete in the Series' championship at Oak Hill Country Club's West Course. There was a change to how the points list was calculated in 2016. Instead of adding all points together, as done in past years, players could only count their low-5 tournament scores for the points list. The low 92 men and 20 women on this list earned invites, and play was conducted Monday, October 3rd to determine the NYSGA Amateur Series Champions!

With the course playing long and course conditions soft and wet, the field was in for a challenging test on the demanding West Course at Oak Hill. Although the course was difficult and the weather conditions were less than ideal, some players were able to conquer the monster that is Oak Hill Country Club.

Overall net champions included Dave Inzana of the SGATOUR.com in the Men's Division with an impressive net 66 (-5), Jerry Verekee out of East Park Golf Club took home the Men's Senior Divison net championship by firing a low net round of 64 (-7), and Andrea Zaretzki from Town of Colonie Golf Club claimed the Women's Division with a net score of 70 (-3).

In the gross divisions, Travis Koch out of Airway Meadows in Albany shot the low round of the day, 73 (+2) and claimed the low gross title in the Men's Division. Koch played a solid and steady round that included only four bogeys, and they were offset by two birdies on the par 4 10th, as well as the par 5 16th.  John Hathway (2016 NYSGA Associate Member), continued his strong play from the summer to claim the low gross championship in the Men's Senior Division. Hathaway shot a seven over round of 78, which included a birdie on the par 5 11th. Hathway also claimed the low gross championship in the 2015 Amateur Series Championship. The 2015 NYS Women's Senior Amateur Champion Kim Kaul (Gowanda CC) took home the low gross title in the Women's Division. Kaul shot 77 (+4) which included 13 pars and a birdie on the par 4 15th.
