Back-to-Back Wins on NGA Tour for Dominic Bozzelli
In the past two weeks Pittsford native & Auburn alum, Dominic Bozzelli, earned his first and second professional victories on the National Golf Association (NGA) Pro Golf Tour, after turning pro in 2013.
Bozzelli’s first victory was at the 2014 Spring Hill Classic held March 6-9, at Spring Hill Country Club in Trifton, Ga. Bozzelli put together four sub-70 rounds for a four day total of 12-under par 272. With this win Bozzelli earned an exemption into the Web.com Tour BMW Charity Pro-Am, to be held May 15-18 in Greer, S.C., and a first-place prize of $17,000.
Bozzelli’s second victory came this past weekend, only one week after the Spring Hill Classic, at the NGA Tour Classic held Mar. 13-16, at Stonebridge Golf & Country Club in Albany, Ga. After opening with an eagle on the first hole of his first round, Bozzelli went 69-67-66-71 for a four day total of 15-under par 273. With this win, Bozzelli earned a first-place prize of $19,000.
Before he began his professional career, Bozzelli was a well-known face at NYS amateur events. In 2005, he won the NYS Boys’ Amateur Championship held at Centerpointe Country Club and two years later (2007), won the NYS Junior Amateur Championship held at Mark Twain Golf Course. Bozzelli is also a back-to-back NYS Men’s Amateur Champion. He first won the NYS Men’s Amateur Championship in 2011 when the championship was held at Oak Hill Country Club, then again in 2012 when the championship was held at Elmira Country Club.
Throughout NYSGA history, Bozzelli is one of three golfers to win the NYS Boys’ Amateur, the NYS Junior Amateur and the NYS Men’s Amateur. Terry Diehl of Rochester, N.Y., and Yaroslav Merkulov of Penfield, N.Y., have also won those three NYS Championships.
