Eligibility

To be eligible to compete in this Championship, an entrant must:

Conform to the USGA's "Rules of Amateur Status",
Be a member in good standing at a NYSGA Member Club or be a 2012 NYSGA Associate Member with their primary residence in New York state, and,
Have an up-to-date Handicap Index from a golf club licensed to use the USGA Handicapping System.

Entry Fee*

The entry fee for this Championship is $150 (Non-exempt players are to pay $100 to register for Sectional Qualifying. Players advancing to the Championship will be charged an additional $50).

Format

The NYS Amateur Championship will be conducted in two stages, at stroke play:

Sectional Qualifying - 18 Holes. Required for all non-exempt players.
Championship - 72 Holes. The field will consist of place winners from Sectional Qualifying and Exempt Players.

Sectional Qualifying

After entry closes, the allocation of qualifying spots will be announced for Sectional Qualifying locations. This information will be posted below under Qualifying Details, along with qualifier specific information and tee times/pairings (as available). Any player tied for the last qualifying spot at any Sectional Qualifier will advance to the Championship proper (no alternates). An entrant may only attempt to qualify at one Sectional Qualifying location.

Exemptions

The list of players exempt from qualifying for this Championship will be posted March 1, 2012.

Schedule of Events

The tentative schedule of events has been set as follows:

Monday, July 16
	8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.	Player Registration - Elmira Country Club
	9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.	Practice Round (players only). Call pro shop to schedule tee time.
Tuesday, July 17
	7:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m.	Round 1 - 18 Holes. 78 players - 1st and 10th tees.
	12:15 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.	Round 1 - 18 Holes. 78 players - 1st and 10th tees.
Wednesday, July 18
	7:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m..	Round 2 - 18 Holes. 78 players - 1st and 10th tees.
	12:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.	Round 2 - 18 Holes. 78 players - 1st and 10th tees.
	After Round 2, the field will be cut to the 40 lowest scores and ties or anyone within 10 strokes of the leader.
Thursday, July 19
	7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.	Round 3 - 18 Holes. Play will begin off the 1st and 10th tees.
	12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.	Round 4 - 18 Holes. Play will begin off the 1st and 10th tees.
	A playoff, if necessary, will immediately follow the conclusion of play.
	6:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.	Award ceremony to immediately follow conclusion of play

Daily Rate: $150 + state and local taxes

In order to receive the group rates, advise the hotel that you are a New York State Golf Association participant. Reservations must be made directly with the hotel and will require a credit card to guarantee your reservation. If you must cancel your reservation please do so at least 24 hours prior to your check in date to avoid being charged for the room.
