Golf Association

Eligibility

To be eligible to compete in this Championship, an entrant must:

1. Conform to the USGA's "Rules of Amateur Status", and
2. Be a resident of New York state or a member in good standing at a NYSGA Member Club.
   
   

Age Requirements

     Junior Amateur - entrants must be between the ages of 15 and 17 years on August 8, 2012.

     Boys Amateur - entrants must be 14 years old or younger on August 8, 2012.

Format

The NYS Junior & Boys Amateur Championship will be conducted in two stages, at stroke play:

1. Sectional Qualifying - 18 Holes. Required for all non-exempt players.
2. Championship - 36 Holes. The field will consist of place winners from Sectional Qualifying and Exempt Players. The field will be limited (through Sectional Qualifying) to 72 Juniors and 36 Boys.
   
   

Sectional Qualifying

After the close of entries, the allocation of qualifying spots will be announced for all Sectional Qualifying locations. This information will be posted below under Qualifying Details, along with qualifier specific information and tee times/pairings (as available). Any ties for the last qualifying spot or for the alternate positions will require a sudden death play-off, which will take place immediately following the conclusion of play. An entrant may only attempt to qualify at one Sectional Qualifier.

The list of players exempt from qualifying for this Championship will be posted March 1, 2012.

Schedule of Events

The tentative schedule of events has been set as follows:

Monday, August 6
	9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.		Player Registration - Mark Twain Golf Course
	9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.		Practice Round (players only). Call pro shop to schedule tee time.
	5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.		Contestant Dinner. Guest tickets for dinner will be available at a price TDB.
Tuesday, August 7
	7:30 a.m. - 9:27 a.m.		Round 1 - 18 Holes (Boys). Play will begin off the 10th tee.
	12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.		Round 1 - 18 Holes (Juniors). Play will begin off the 1st tee.
Wednesday, August 8
	7:30 a.m. - 9:27 a.m.		Round 2 - 18 Holes (Boys). Play will begin off the 1st tee.
			A play-off, if necessary, will immediately following conclusion of play.
	2:15 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.		Prize presentation ceremony to immediately follow the conclusion of play.
	12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.		Round 2 - 18 Holes (Juniors). Play will begin off the 10th tee.
			A play-off, if necessary, will immediately following conclusion of play.
	6:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.		Awards ceremony to immediately follow the conclusion of play.

In order to receive the group rates, advise the hotel that you are a New York State Golf Association participant. Reservations must be made directly with the hotel and will require a credit card to guarantee your reservation. If you must cancel your reservation please do so at least 24 hours prior to your check in date to avoid being charged for the room.
