N.Y.S. Women's Senior Amateur Championship

Kanon Valley Country Club


Entry is open to any female amateur golfer who meets the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Membership: Belong to an NYSGA member club or have joined the NYSGA as an Associate Member (state residency required for Associate Members).

  2. Handicap: Have an up-to-date Handicap Index®, issued by a golf club licensed to use the USGA Handicap System™ (no specified limit).

  3. Age: Entrants must have reached their 50th birthday by August 19, 2014.
Divisions and Flights

N.Y.S. Women's Super Senior Amateur Championship

All players who have reached their 65th birthday by August 19, 2014 will be eligible to compete for the N.Y.S. Women's Super Senior Amateur Championship. Thie N.Y.S. Women's Senior & Super Senior Amateur Championships are conducted concurrently, thus a player age eligible for both championships will compete for both titles.

Age Divisions

In addition to competing for the championships outline above, players will compete for gross and net prizes in the following age divisions: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.

Format, Field Size and Schedule


This championship will be conducted over 36 holes of stroke play. The player with the lowest score in each championship at the end of 36 holes will be the winner. In the event of a tie for either championship, the winner will be determined immediately by a hole-by-hole playoff.

Field Size

The field is limited to 120 players. If more than 120 players apply, the 120 players with the lowest Handicap Indexes as of the entry close date will be eligible. Any player not eligible due to the field being oversubscribed will be refunded the full entry fee.

The tentative schedule of events has been set as follows:

Monday, August 18 // Registration, Practice Round and Player Dinner

Tuesday, August 19 // Round 1, 18 Holes

Wednesday, August 20 // Round 2, 18 Holes



Contestant Information

Partner Hotel

The NYSGA has partnered with the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Verona (5280 Willow Place, Verona, NY 13478) to offer a discounted rates to contestants in the field. The rooms for this block will be held until August 4.


The NYSGA requests that all contestants register, either in person or by phone, by 3:00pm on Monday, August 18. Registration will take place at Kanon Valley CC (location TBD) from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Contestants unable to register in person are asked to call the NYSGA office at (315) 471-6979 to register.

Practice Rounds

A complimentary practice round is available for all registered contestants on Monday, August 18. In order to make a tee time, which start at 9:00am, please call the Kanon Valley CC pro shop at (315) 363-8283. Practice rounds on alternate dates are available, but the pricing and availability will be determined by the host club.

Golf Carts

The payment for use of golf carts for this championship (and practice round) is included in the entry fee. There is a strict two cart limit per group. A player may walk if desired, but may be asked to ride if their group does not keep pace with the group in front of them.


The use of a caddie is approved for this championship. A caddie must walk if there is no room within the two cart limit per group.

Driving Range

The use of the driving range by contestants at Kanon Valley CC will be provided compliments of the NYSGA.

Pairings and Tee Times

The first round will begin off the 1st and 10th tee starting at 8:00am. Pairings and tee times will be posted on the NYSGA website and emailed to all registered contestants at 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 19.  Second round pairings will be based off first round scores with ties broken by matching scorecards.

Course Yardage

The golf course at Kanon Valley CC will be set up to approximately 5,345 yards and play to a par of 72. The NYSGA tees for the championship will be set to the proper yardage for Monday's practice round and a blank scorecard will be provided to all players in the field during registration.

Contestant Dinner

There will be a dinner for all contestants at Kanon Valley on Monday, August 18. The menu for the meal includes a caesar salad, 6 oz. bacon wrapped filet (cooked to order), twice baked potato, butter, sour cream, steamed vegetables (zucchini, yellow summer squash, red peppers, onions), rolls, amaretto tiramisu, and coffee/tea.

The dinner will begin with a cash bar at 5:00pm and food to be served at 6:00pm.

Food Service at Kanon Valley CC

The restaurant at Kanon Valley will be open for the duration of this championship. Buffet lunches will be available for $8 per person on Tuesday and Wednesday. The menu for the lunch on Tuesday is chef carved turkey breast and ham, macaroni salad, chef rolls, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, banana peppers and cookies. The menu for Wednesday is chicken riggies, chef salad, steamed italian green beans, rolls, and brownies.

There will be complimentary snacks (granola/fruit) and water available for contestants on the 1st and 10th tees on Tuesday and Wednesday.
